ABOUT US

Fun Designs, Serious about the Planet

How we are making our green society greener, while still providing you with quality products.

SUSTAINABILITY

Green Society Threads is part of the slow fashion movement. We make each item of clothing only once it has been ordered, and then produce it the greenest way we can. This process is called print on demand.

We choose premium quality, sustainable and/or recycled fabrics (our minimum sustainable material content is at least 70% organic or recycled materials; or such material blends) or combed and ring spun cotton which increases quality and durability and thus less wastage.

Our direct to garment printing is done with Oeko-Tex(TM) certified inks, which are 100% non-hazardous, 100% toxin free, contain no animal by-products and reduce environmental waste. Kornit printers produce almost zero wastewater and use less energy. Our swimwear is printed with Mimaki Dye Sublimation Ink Sb411 and Sawgrass SubliJet HD ink. Both of these inks are Oeko-Tex™ certified. For some sublimation products, we also use MYSUBLI-E Sublimation Transfer Ink.

Our embroidered garments tend to last longer as threads are more resilient over time. We embroider each design using Coloreel technology which colours the thread during production, so no water is used to pre-dye threads. 100% recycled polyester thread is sourced from recycled post-consumer PET bottles.

We also package our products without all the pretty wrapping and unnecessary paper inserts so your order will arrive in (intentionally and less wastefully) plain, no frills packaging; and our mailers in North America are made from 90%-100% post-consumer-recycled (PCR) plastic content, which are produced from everyday recyclables like plastic bottles. Recycled content saves raw materials and requires less energy to produce.

Our global fulfilment network allows us to route orders to print labs closest to our customers, significantly lowering shipping costs, times and transport related carbon emissions as a result.

ETHICAL PRACTICES

We believe in ethical production, so we only partner with suppliers and manufacturers who share our commitment to safe working conditions and fair labour practices. Traditional printing methods often rely on cheap labour, particularly in countries with lower labour standards; which leads to poor working conditions and low wages for workers.

We have also chosen print on demand because our garments are printed using digital printing, which requires fewer workers and more advanced equipment; and we print in the USA which supports domestic business and the local economy.
